In the Home Building Industry there are many ways to be considered Professional and the group of BPCI Builders and Vendors are committed to defining and improving their level of professionalism. To that end, the various committees of BPCI are developing procedures and standards to address many aspects of preferred business practices that could be required as a part of membership. An example of the type of preferred business practices currently being considered include:

  • Have Consistent Standards and written expectations for all Vendors and Subcontractors to follow
  • Maintain an Accurate Schedule that insures the home is built in a timely and orderly fashion
  • Have Field Supervisors on the Jobsite daily
  • Have written Scopes of Work and Job Checklists
  • Require a Vendor Dress Code
  • Maintain their Credit by paying invoices promptly
  • Maintain OSHA requirements
  • Maintain themselves and require that all their Vendors maintain the appropriate insurance standards and warranty procedures
  • Have an accurate and efficient way to communicate with both the Vendors and the Home Buyer insuring that any and all changes are implemented correctly
  • Maintain an "Above Average" on both the Peer Review Report Card and Preferred Vendor Report Card
     
 
 
Advantages of working with a BPCI Vendor member

The BPCI works due to the strong relationship that the Preferred Vendors and the Select Custom Builders share. This relationship is enhanced and solidified due to the following expectations and requirements of the Vendor Members:

  • Is an Associate Member in Good Standing of BAGI
  • Has been in business for 2 or more years
  • Has not had a disreputable business history or have any bankruptcies within 2 previous years of their application to be a member of BPCI
  • Complete the Vendor Contract
  • Establish 90 Day Pricing for each phase that they are in
  • Agree to provide the Same Pricing to every builder in the BPCI
  • Maintain OSHA Requirements
  • Has passed a credit application showing good credit history
  • Have an accurate and efficient way to communicate with both the Builders and the Home Buyer insuring that any and all changes are implemented correctly
  • Attend Quarterly Vendor Meetings
  • Participate on a Committee that serves to enhance the group and foster education, best practices and communication between Builders and Vendors
  • Is reviewed yearly by both their Peers and the Select Custom Builders in the Group
  • Timely and accurately reporting all purchases for each Builder Member Quarterly
  • On all qualified purchases, pay to the BPCI a rebate that is no less than 1% of those qualified purchases on a quarterly basis
